Up until now the UK Energy Broker industry has not been regulated.
This has made it very easy for Gas and Electricity Energy Brokers to hide extra commissions on top of the unit rate of kWh in the contract(s) you have committed to. Sometimes these contracts are lengthy and span many years.
Ofgem (Office of Gas and Electricity Markets) the official regulators of the UK Energy Market carried out an investigation into “unscrupulous brokers” and found that up to 50% of the total cost of Energy deals were illegally hidden in contracts by Brokers.
While new regulation will prevent this from happening in the future, up to 90% of UK businesses are now able to claim back those hidden fees in their contracts over the last six years and sometimes even longer.
